肛門腺是需要用耐心與細心去維持清潔的，因為肛門腺液通常不會自行排出。若是在幫毛孩擠肛門腺時不小心弄傷狗狗導致發炎時，二話不說請盡速就診。

還沒學會怎麼幫狗狗擠肛門腺的朋友照著做做看，肛門囊位置在肛門兩側4點鐘、8點鐘方向各有一個且各有一個開口。

Q：狗不願意被擠肛門腺有什麼方法可以順利進行？

A：通常狗狗都不願意被擠肛門腺，疼痛還好，只是會有些緊張，所以要有一位家人在狗狗前方控制不要亂動，另一位則操作擠肛門腺，同時可以和狗狗說說話，緩解緊張情緒。

Q：肛門腺是每次擠一定會有東西嗎？家裡的狗跟貓咪都沒擠過，要擠嗎？

A：不一定每次擠肛門腺都會有腺體擠出來，如果從來沒擠過的狗貓就要仔細觀察看看有無磨地扳的症狀，若有的話就表示該擠一下肛門腺了。

Q：想幫貓咪擠肛門腺，但是貓咪都會反抗耶！怎麼用比較好？

A：貓咪擠肛門腺比狗狗難做，因為貓的反應比狗狗更大，可以請1至2位幫忙搞定的幫手協助。

Q：狗狗被擠肛門腺時我往內壓時他就唉唉叫，都還沒開始擠是我手法錯誤嗎？

A：擠肛門腺唉唉叫並不代表疼痛，其實還是害怕、緊張的自發反應，因此適當的安慰是不可缺少的!

Q：多大年紀的狗貓可以開始擠？幼犬幼貓擠得出來嗎？

A：肛門腺分泌量的多少完全和體質相關，但是6個月以內的幼犬貓是不需要清理肛門腺的，性成熟之後才需要幫寶貝們清理。

Q：沒有尾巴的狗狗怎麼擠？

A：沒有尾巴的犬種，像是英鬥、法鬥等還是可以清理肛門腺的，只是困難度高了一些。

Q：一開始擠肛門腺，但沒有分泌物；洗完澡的隔一天再擠一次肛門腺可以嗎？

A：過去成功的清理過肛門腺，現在卻有困難，或許是因為分泌量減少或是已經自己可以排除，不用擔心，只要沒有臨床症狀就好了。

Q：如何知道肛門腺擠乾淨了？

A：尚未清理前可以先用手指觸診肛門腺是否腫大，若是感到有腫脹的感覺就表示已經有堆積些肛門腺了，反之就不需要去清理。
